Michael Conrad McHenry

Born October 9, 1973 in Coatsville, Pennsylvania of Kenneth Earl McHenry and Darlene Marie Dyabelko
McHenry. At the early age of 1, Michael's parents divorced leaving him raised in part by his grandparents Harry
Conrad and Ella Irma McHenry of Pheonixville Pa. The family moved to the Elverson, Pa. area in 1976. Here
Michael attended the Twin Valley School District until the eighth grade. He won many awards through grade school
clearly revealing his talent in the art field.
From Elverson, Michael moved to western Pennsylvania with his father for a brief 2 years. He attended Jamestown
Jr Sr High school where he continued winning art awards in the county fair and state competitions. A pastel piece
won first place in area, county, and regional competitions, later placing second in a state competition and landing the
piece in the Reading Art Museum. Michael was the youngest in the competition ranging from 13 to 18 year old
artists.
Before starting the 10th grade, Michael moved to Annville, Pa. and was raised to adulthood by Michael and
Kathleen Dyabelko, his uncle and aunt. He proved his talent worthy of recognition numerous times by winning local
competitions and displaying his art in shows as well as being voted class artist by the class of 1991. Michael
continued his education by winning a full scholarship to Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts, overcoming nearly
400 applicants from multiple eastern states.
He worked as an artist for Hershey Entertainment and Resort Company from 1990 until 1994 when he decided to
begin Studio 1900. The "1900" represents his initials (MCM) in Roman Numerals. A signature trademark he has
been using since age 14. Michael has produced custom oil paintings, portraits and various advertising art
successfully ever since. He opened a studio offering custom award winning tattoos as well. This thrusted Michael
into the "lime light". He won numerous awards at shows and competitions and has sold his tattoo designs and
artwork internationally and in 41 of the 50 United States. Being published in different magazines, and featured in
many TV appearances, Michael has attracted clients from all around the country as well as from Canada, Mexico,
England, Germany, Italy, and most recently, Japan.
In 2009, Michael returned to school to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree. He relocated to his vacation state of
Missouri in 2011 and began to teach part time. Graduating Magna Cum Laude class of 2013, he started his
teaching career by substitute teaching nearly full time, all grades and subjects for 2 years. In 2013 he began full time
teaching at Rivendale Institute in Springfield, MO. Here he worked with autistic and emotionally distressed children.
In 2014 Michael began teaching art in the Eminence R-I School district, teaching Pre-K through 12th grade.
In 2015, Michael is opening the Missouri Institute of Tattooing, offering proper instruction and teaching of the safe,
professional, and responsible mechanics of tattooing and running a successful business.
Michael continues to specialize in realism, including human figure, pin ups and portraits. He also utilizes graphic
design through Illustrator and other programs to fulfill a variety of needs and business solutions for friends,
community members, and clients.
Michael is married and has four beautiful children, two of which are diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, instilling in
him the drive to work with Autistic children.
